Breast Asymmetry Los Angeles

Did you know that there is nary a woman who has perfectly symmetrical breasts naturally? In fact, if you were to take the mirror image of the ride side of any person body and put it side-by-side with the right side of the same person, it would look different than the actual person. The same is true for the mirror image of the left side. This is because the left and right sides are any body part are not identical- one arm is longer than the other arm, one eye is situated lower than the other eye, one foot is bigger than the other foot, and so on.

For most people, the differences between the two sides may be so miniscule that it escapes being noticeable. Although breast asymmetry is incredibly common, the differences between the two breasts are negligible enough that some women may not even know that their breast are asymmetrical on some level. However, when breast asymmetry is visibly obvious, it can drastically affect a woman self-confidence and self-image.

Just about all women will have some differences between her right breast and her left breast- whether it is a difference between the cup sizes of the breasts, the nipple positioning or size of each of the breasts, the degree of sagging/drooping, or all of the above- but some women will have differences that are much more obvious than most. If you are a woman who has an asymmetry of the breasts that is plainly obvious, you are likely a candidate for breast asymmetry correction.

Dr. Kapoor of Beverly Hills Cosmetic Plastic Surgery has performed an extensive amount of breast augmentation procedures and provided beautiful, natural looking results for his patients.

What Is Breast Asymmetry Correction?

Breast asymmetry correction refers to the cosmetic surgical procedures used to correct an asymmetry between a patient breasts. The cosmetic surgical procedures used during breast asymmetry correction can include any one or more of the following: breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, and breast reconstruction procedures, including nipple reduction & areola surgery.

In cases where the patient has one breast that is bigger than the other and desires both breasts be the same size as the smaller breast, breast reduction will most likely be necessary. If the patient has one breast that is bigger than the other and would like breasts that are the same size as the larger breast, breast augmentation using either silicone or saline implants will be likely used on both breasts (in order to keep a consistency between the breasts; a breast with an implant will look, feel, and age differently than a breast without an implant. If a patient has sagging breasts with one breast bigger than the other, and the patient would like breasts that are the same size as her smaller breast, a breast lift in conjunction with a breast reduction would most likely be necessary.

When a woman has a mastectomy, part or all of one or both of her breasts are removed, inherently creating an asymmetry of the breasts, through which breast reconstruction procedures can be utilized to give the patient symmetrical breasts. Sometimes, a breast augmentation will not result in aesthetically-pleasing results- breasts that are asymmetrical due to an imbalance between the implants in each breast, for instance- and require a breast surgery correction in Los Angeles in which asymmetry of implants are corrected.

After a preliminary consultation, the cosmetic surgeon will advise the patient as to which procedure or combination of procedures will best bring about the outcome that the patient desires.

What To Expect During Recovery?

Immediately after the breast asymmetry correction procedure, the breast will be swollen and bruised, and will be wrapped in a surgical support bra, which is usually worn during the first three to five days. Most patients will be able to return home the very same day as their breast asymmetry correction procedures. However, some patients, usually patients who have had a breast reduction, have to stay overnight at the hospital for one night for post-op observation and care.

In order to reduce the risk of any post-op infections from developing, the cosmetic surgeon will prescribe antibiotics that the patient should take according to the surgeon instructions. To manage any post-op pain and discomfort, the surgeon may prescribe paid medications along with the antibiotics.

Depending on the type of breast asymmetry correction the patient had, recovery times will vary the majority of patients report that they feel well enough to return to work and their normal, daily routines a week after their breast asymmetry surgery in Beverly Hills.

Although most light activity should be tolerable, it is typically advised that patients refrain from strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for three to five weeks after their breast asymmetry correction procedures. Almost all bruising and swelling should subside within this time.

Full results should become evident within two months; any post-op scarring should have healed and faded by this point, although it can take up to six months for some patients scarring to fade.

All patients will have to routinely visit their cosmetic surgeons for check-ups to ensure that their breast asymmetry correction recovery is going well. It is important to follow all post-op recovery instructions and procedures as given by your cosmetic surgeon.
